Fire Pump Controls with Transfer Switch

Hubbell Fire pump Motor Controllers with Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) are designed to comply with the latest standard of the National Fire Protection Association for the installation of stationary pumps for fire protection.

  • LXi Microprocessor Logic & Control
  • Coordinated design engineered, built, tested and labeled by one manufacturer
  • Suitable for use as service entrance equipment
  • Emergency source suitable for standby generator sets or optional dual utility sources
  • Full compliment of visual indicators
  • Communications port
  • LCD display shows system pressure, and simultaneous reading of all phases for amps, volts and pressure
  • Full range of horsepower ratings and voltages
  • Ample cable bending space

Transfer Switch

Hubbell LX-450 automatic transfer switches provide dependable transfer of power between preferred and emergency power sources. The compact modular design is suitable for emergency and standby system applications and is available in 100 through 1250 amps in 2 or 3 pole configurations. The LX-450 transfer switches is UL 1008 listed to 480VAC and greatly exceed the UL requirements for withstand and closing.

Diesel Fire Pump

The LX-3000 Fire Pump Controller is a combined automatic and manual diesel engine driven fire pump controller.  These controllers are specifically designed and tested to be used with 12V or 24V fire pump diesel engines.  They are available for either positive or negative ground systems.

Included as standard in the LX-3000 controller is the Hubbell LX-750, a dual, current limiting, switch mode battery charger which assures both sets of batteries are properly and adequately charged at all times.

These controllers include all the required features to provide start and stop signals to the engine, monitor engine conditions and to provide audible and visual alarms for engine and controller conditions

Limited Service

Hubbell's Model LX-1500 limited service fire pump controllers monitor system operation by means of an adjustable type pressure switch (high and low set points).  If system water pressure drops below the minimum pressure set point, the controller brings the pumping unit on-line for a fixed period of time governed by the running period timer.  At the end of the fixed running period, and if if the system water pressure is above the pressure switch set point, the controller will automatically shut down the pumping unit.

These controllers may be used, where acceptable to the authority having jurisdiction, for control of small electric motor driven fire pumps and booster pumps with a maximum of 30 hp.

Alarm Panel

The LX-908 remote panels are designed to meet the NFPA 20 specifications requiring a remote alarm panel when the pump house or pump room is not constantly attended. These alarm panels can be used with electric motor driven or diesel engine driven fire pump controllers. The alarm panel should be installed in a location that is under supervision at all times.

LX-960b low suction pressure alarm and shutdown panels are designed to be used with electric and diesel engine driven fire pump controllers. They provide pump shutdown in the event a low suction pressure condition occurs. In addition, these panels provide audible and visible alarms for the following conditions:

  • Control Power Available
  • Low Suction Pressure
  • Suction Pressure Normal

Jockey Pump Control

Hubbell's Model LX-600 Jockey Pump Controllers are intended for across-the-line starting of squirrel cage motors up to 10 hp at 200/208V, up to 15 hp at 220/240V, and up to 25 hp at 440/480V.  Larger hp sizes are available, consult factory.  For single phase jockey pump applications, 1/3 hp through 3/4 hp, Hubbell has the LX-601 Jockey Pump Controller.  Both controllers are for fire protection system applications where it is desirable to maintain uniform system water pressure by the use of an automatic pressure maintenance pump.

Model LX-600 & LX-601 Jockey Pump Controllers serve over-all system efficiency by detecting minor fire protection water system leakage.  By bringing jockey or make-up pumps on line, they maintain pressure within set point limits without unnecessary cycling of the main fire pump.
